The ultimate dream awaits at the end of this final match up to determine
the best of the best in the Asia Pacific !
The 2010 Asia Pacific Open Golf Championship Panasonic Open, a four-day tournament between September 23 (Thu) and September 26 (Sun), will be held at the Rokko Kokusai Golf Club in Japan's Hyogo Prefecture.
Hosted by the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC), Panasonic
Corporation, and the Japan Golf Association (JGA),
this tournament represents the final word on
who is the top golfer
in the Asian-Pacific,
attracting both professional and amateur players
of the highest caliber from the region.
Through a special agreement with the Japan Golf Tour and the Asian Tour, the tournament is an official prize money event that adds to winnings in both of those tours. As such, spectators can expect participating players from those tours to demonstrate an even more intensified level of competition. Last year in the Panasonic Open, although Japanese pro Daisuke Maruyama emerged victorious with a 4-stroke lead over the 2nd place spot, on the day of the tee-off, Japan's Tetsuya Haraguchi and Singapore's Lam Chih Bing drove the tournament forward as they vied for 1st place, with Japan's Yuta Ikeda, China's Liang Wen-Chong and South Korea's Kim Kyung-Tae all emerging to tie for 2nd place. Such high-level competition by both Japanese pros and players coming off the Asian Tour highlighted last year's Panasonic Open.
Hosting this third holding of the Panasonic Open is the Rokko Kokusai Golf Club, a prestigious golf course established in Kansai, Western Japan in 1973. Consisting of 36 holes between its East and West Courses and nestled in hilly terrain, the venue is marked for its expertly-conceived strategic layout as well as for its visual splendor. This year's Panasonic Open will take place on the East Course, which boasts magnificent scale.
This year shall mark another appearance by Ryo Ishikawa, who is officially sponsored by Panasonic, as the host player of the Panasonic Open. Following his remarkable accomplishment last year of being the youngest pro golfer ever to attain the winnings crown at the tender age of 18, Ryo made history again at this year's The Crowns by emerging victorious from the tournament with 58 strokes, the fewest number of strokes on the final day of such a tournament on record. This amazing feat has already been recognized by Guinness World Records. Coming off these accomplishments, Ryo is an increasing favorite to secure his first championship in what will be his third time to participate in the Panasonic Open, and emerge as the top golfer in the Asia-Pacific region.
This September, the door leading to the ultimate dream shall be thrown open. Look forward to this intense matchup between top players from both Japan and overseas.
